More about MS

In this page, you can find the reasons for advocating for Multiple Sclerosis (MS). You can also find helpful links to check out about MS.

Why advocate for Multiple Sclerosis?

MS is most common in Western Countries and is not that common here in Singapore - there are about 200 known patients currently receiving treatment for MS in Singapore and not many Singaporeans know about this disease. It is known as an "invisible disease", as the disease is not outwardly obvious or visible to others. A MS patient, Ms Shannon Heo, once mentioned in her news article interview,"People have told me "you don't look sick what". I may look like I can walk, but I feel like I can fall down anytime. It's an invisible condition, a lot of us suffer in silence." The nature of MS has resulted in numerous patients being presented with situations where the general public may be ignorant or unaware about the disease that they have been diagnosed with, unintentionally passing off comments which may be hurtful to MS patients. Thus, advocating for MS allows us to raise awareness for MS as a disease and to raise awareness for MS patients, so that more Singaporeans know about MS.

Moreover, there exists low-income MS sufferers who are not able to afford the cost of MS treatment. Advocating for MS allows us to raise funds for financially disadvantaged MS patients, helping them receive the required treatment for this debilitating disease which can progress fast in some people.

Project Aeipathy's Partners

All funds raised by Project Aeipathy to date have gone towards the MS Assistance Fund, a fund managed by NUHS Fund Limited (a registered charity with IPC status). 100% of the funds raised is used to support finanically disadvantaged MS patients from NUH, NNI-GH, NNI-TTSH.

Additionally, Project Aeipathy also works together with MS Care - the only MS support network in Singapore which has been helping MS patients in Singapore since 2003.
